Ready 2 Rent Course Taranaki | Roderique Hope Trust

Ready to Rent Taranaki is a two day course run in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development that is facilitated by Roderique Hope Trust and is proudly supported by Beach Energy.

It is provided for tenants and focuses on the knowledge and skills essential for a successful renting experience. The Ready to Rent course is intended to improve tenants knowledge in the rental application process, and provide the necessary tools to assist them find and maintain a long term rental property in Taranaki’s competitive private rental market.

Topics Include:

Tenant’s and landlord’s rights and responsibilities
Learn new skills to build positive relationships with landlords and neighbours
Gain confidence in finding and maintaining affordable housing
Applying for a rental property and presenting to a potential landlord
Understanding the application and screening processes used by landlords
Money management and creating a household budget
Education on warm, dry, healthy homes including insulation, ventilation, heating, curtains, clothes drying

Work and Income assistance
Fire Safety in the home including renters insurance

When tenants complete the course, they receive a Ready to Rent Taranaki certificate, which lets prospective landlords know they have taken the time to learn how to be a responsible tenant with the goal that they become the tenant of choice when applying for a property in the private rental market.
