Emergency housing plan foiled by resistance from some residents

A charitable trust has pulled out of plans to open an emergency house, citing concerns for the safety and privacy of its vulnerable clients because of hostility from some residents.

The Roderique Hope Trust, which was launched in September, had wanted to rent a home on Tainui St, New Plymouth, for the purpose of providing for families in need of short term housing.
